Sonseeahray Western Store Perrysburg, Ohio

Tom, Kim, Frank & Ryan

Sonseeahray Western Store, LLC is a third-generation family business established in 1969 by Frank Slowinski, Jr. A horse enthusiast from birth, Frank Jr. spent his childhood years traveling west with his father, Frank to bring back horses to Toledo, Ohio to raise, train and show. After 30 years spent raising horses, and later, a family, Frank Jr. decided to turn his passion into a career by establishing Sonseeahray Farms General Store in historic downtown Perrysburg in 1969.

The name "Sonseeahray" (pronounced "Son-See-Ray") is the Apache word for "morning star" and was chosen by Frank Fr. and his wife Marlene after they fell in love with the Native American heroine of the same name from the 1950 film "Broken Arrow."

In 1974, it became apparent that a bigger building would be needed to meet growing demand. Frank Jr. moved the store to its current location on the corner of Route 20 and Tracy Road in Perrysburg, Ohio. This location has been home to Sonseeahray Western Store ever since.

Frank's daughter, Kim, has been in the business with her father since the early days in downtown Perrysburg. Kim's husband, Tom Weisbrod, joined the business in 1978 at its current location. In 1999 Frank Sr. retired from running the store , with Kim and Tom taking the reins of all the day-to-day operations.

In 2004, Ryan (the middle of the three sons) began working alongside his parents, making him the third generation at Sonseeahray Western Store. A few years later, Ryan became the manager.

Since its beginning, Sonseeahray has continued to meet its customers' needs by having a huge inventory of western wear and boots for men, women and children as well as horse-care supplies, saddles, tack and more.
